On 29 October 2012, Sandy drove a record storm tide into New York Harbor, flooding coastal neighborhoods and critical infrastructure. Subway tunnels, road tubes, hospitals, electrical equipment, and thousands of homes were inundated; fire destroyed more than 100 houses in Breezy Point.
